Fort Gross - Friedrichsburg 1685, Ghana

A 17th century fort of international significance, Fort Gross is part of the Coastal Castles and Forts World Heritage Site in West Africa. Built by the Brandenburghers to protect their trade agreement in the area, it was later used in the slave trade. The HGP conservation team is performing extensive repairs to the buildings, working in close collaboration with the Ghana Museum and Monuments Board.

Once the conservation work is completed, the fort will be adapted to form part of a five-star hotel and leisure complex, incorporating improvements to the East section of Princes Town.
